Beschrijving VPS34-IN1 is een potente en zeer selectieve Vps34-remmer met een IC50 van 25 nM in vitro, die de isovormen van klasse I en klasse II PI3K's niet significant remt. VPS34-IN1 moduleert Autophagy.

In vitro Toediening van VPS34-IN1 aan cellen induceert een snelle dosisafhankelijke verspreiding van een specifieke PtdIns(3)P-bindende probe uit endosoommembranen, binnen 1 minuut, zonder de mogelijkheid van klasse I PI3K om Akt te reguleren te beïnvloeden. Het kan ook een snel ~50-60% verlies van SGK3-fosforylering induceren binnen 1 minuut. Deze verbinding heeft geen remming op de SGK2-isovorm die geen PtdIns(3)P-bindend PX-domein bezit.
