In vitro

Verubecestat (MK-8931) vermindert effectief Aβ40 in cellen met een Ki van 7,8 nM en een IC50 van 13 nM.

In vivo

Verubecestat (MK-8931) verlaagt dramatisch CSF en cortex Aβ40 bij zowel ratten als cynomolgusapen na een enkele orale dosis. Door de halfwaardetijd van 20 uur van MK-8931 is het ideaal voor eenmaal daagse dosering.
