Biologische activiteit

Beschrijving TOFA is een allosterische remmer van acetyl-CoA carboxylase-α (ACCA). In de cel wordt deze verbinding omgezet in TOFyl-CoA (5-tetradecyloxy-2-furoyl-CoA), wat een allosterische remming op ACCA uitoefent. Het blokkeert de vetzuursynthese en induceert celdood op een dosisafhankelijke manier.
