Beschrijving	Harringtonine is een natuurlijke cefalotaxine-alkaloïde die de eiwitbiosynthese remt. Het vertoont ook Antiviral en antikankeractiviteiten.
In vitro	Harringtonine, een cefalotaxine-alkaloïde, remt een vroeg stadium van de replicatiecyclus van het chikungunya-virus (CHIKV) dat optreedt na virale toegang tot cellen en beïnvloedt de CHIKV RNA-productie evenals de virale eiwitexpressie, en remt ook andere alfavirussen.<sup><a class="sref"href="#s_ref">[1]</a></sup>
