Biologische activiteit

Beschrijving Glutathione (GSH) is een tripeptide bestaande uit drie aminozuren (cysteïne, glutaminezuur en glycine) dat in de meeste zoogdierweefsels voorkomt. Het fungeert als een antioxidant, een vrije radicalenvanger en een ontgiftingsmiddel.
In vitro

Glutathione (GSH) is in staat om het door blootstelling aan zwaar metaal cadmium (Cd) geïnduceerde meiotische falen te herstellen door de overmatige ROS-niveaus, DNA-schadeaccumulatie en apoptotische incidentie in varkensoöcyten te onderdrukken.
In vivo

Na GSH-depletie kan orale toediening van deze verbinding de concentraties ervan in verschillende weefsels verhogen.

    Cadmium chloride is dissolved in PBS and diluted in TCM-199 medium to a final concentration of 0.4, 2, 10 and 50 μM, respectively. GSH (Glutathione) is dissolved in PBS and diluted in the same medium to a final concentration of 1, 2 and 4 mM, respectively. Both cadmium chloride and this compound are supplemented to TCM-199 medium immediately before culture.
