Beschrijving A-1331852 is een potente en selectieve BCL-XL-remmer met een Ki-waarde van minder dan 0,01 nM voor BCL-XL en 6 nM, 4 nM, 142 nM voor respectievelijk Bcl-2, Bcl-W, MCL-1. Het kan nuttig zijn bij de behandeling van kanker, immuun- en auto-immuunziekten.

In vitro A-1331852 vertoont opmerkelijke potentie zowel als enkelvoudig middel als in combinatie met TKI's bij het doden van primaire CD34+ CML-cellen. Bovendien heeft het een opmerkelijke potentie bij het induceren van Apoptosis in deze cellen bij lage nanomolaire concentraties al 1 uur na behandeling.
In vivo A-1331852 toont antitumorale werkzaamheid in het Molt-4 xenograftmodel, waarbij het tumorteruggang induceert als enkelvoudig middel.

    Immunoprecipitation of BCL-XL is carried out in K562 cells, exposed to A-1331852 (100 nM) for 0-2 h, and the eluted complexes are immunoblotted for the indicated proteins. The input cell lysates and the immunodepleted supernatant (labeled as Flow-through) are immunoblotted to check the efficiency of the immunoprecipitation.
