Biologische activiteit

Beschrijving Osthol is een O-gemethyleerde coumarine, die voorkomt in planten zoals Cnidium monnieri, Angelica archangelica en Angelica pubescens.
In vitro Osthol is een O-gemethyleerd coumarine dat voorkomt in planten zoals Cnidium monnieri, Angelica archangelica en Angelica pubescens. Deze verbinding remt de bloedplaatjesaggregatie en ATP-afgifte geïnduceerd door ADP, arachidonzuur, PAF, collageen, ionofoor A23187 en trombine in gewassen konijnenbloedplaatjes. Het medieert celddifferentiatie via het botmorfogenetisch eiwit-2/p38 en extracellulair signaal-gereguleerde kinase 1/2 pathway in menselijke osteoblastcellen en kan een veelbelovend middel zijn voor de behandeling van osteoporose. Deze chemische stof onderdrukt ook de secretie van hepatitis B-virus in celkweek door de glycosylering van HBsAg te verhogen.
In vivo LD50: Ratten >125mg/kg (i.v.); Konijnen >35mg/kg (i.v.); Honden >150mg/kg (i.v.).
