2-D08, een remmer van eiwit-SUMOylering, versterkt de all-trans retinoïnezuur (ATRA)-geïnduceerde expressie van sleutelgenen die betrokken zijn bij differentiatie, proliferatie en apoptose in niet-APL AML-cellen. Deze verbinding remt sumoylering door de overdracht van SUMO van de UBC9-SUMO-thioester naar het substraat te voorkomen.
