m-3M3FBS is een krachtige activator van fosfolipase C (PLC) die een voorbijgaande intracellulaire calciumconcentratietoename in neutrofielen stimuleert. Deze verbinding induceert apoptose in monocytische leukemiecellen.

m-3M3FBS induceert een calciumtoename in alle cellijnen (menselijke neutrofielen, HL60, gedifferentieerde HL60, U937, NIH 3T3 en PC12) zonder celspecifieke specificiteit, en stimuleert neutrofiele activiteit door direct Phospholipase C (PLC) te activeren, wat leidt tot superoxidegeneratie.
